Have a look at our list of the most anticipated game titles for the New Year. So sit back, relax and appreciate.
1. Metal Gear Solid Rising
Let us be honest here-Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was a classic! In fact, all Metal Gear titles have been a treat to play. An impressive blend of graphics, gameplay, solid storyline and sound, Metal Gear Solid series delivered an action-packed experience for its loyal players and admirers. It can; therefore, be said without doubt that Kojima has hinted towards another excellent title named, Rising. Little has been said and shown of this very game so far; yet, it seems that developers have tweaked up the gameplay a bit. Trailers and videos show slicing, cutting and sword slinging as the main feature of the game as ‘Raiden’ The Ripper takes charge. This must be an interesting addition as players had previously been fond of playing as ‘Snake’ since the very first Metal Gear title but following Snake’s demise and Raiden coming to the party, things seem to have beefed up a little. It would be too early to make a concise comment just yet but in lieu of the level of anticipation of previous Metal Gear titles saw and the sort of hype that this game generates, we consider this title one that must not be overlooked.
2. Crysis 2
The outstanding visuals of the first ever Crysis game nearly overweighed the impressive gameplay but by that, we do not mean to write off the game mechanics by any means. In fact, it is just a case of praising what deserves the most share of praise. Graphics and Visuals were, indeed, the striking point of Crysis but the sandbox shooter also featured a remarkable gameplay where players were required to take the role of a super soldier and take part in skirmishes around the city of New York as a nanotechnology-enhanced badass. Although no too unusual or innovative, the multiplayer in the game offered solid session of play and managed to impress. With Crysis 2 announced for New Year, players can gear up for much more fun-filled experience than before which will also star on the next-generation platforms this time round. So then, don your nanosuits, ready your lethal, armored bipedal weaponry and prepare for some Sci-Fi FPS action.
Crysis 2 is set to release on PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on March 22, 2011.
3. Max Payne 3
Rockstar Games had made their mark as one of the best in the gaming industry following the release of Max Payne, a title that attracted a hug audience and earned Rock stars their early fan base that continued to build with the releases that followed. Max Payne titles have been renowned for their outstanding production and the sort of quality and density they possess. The release of Max Payne 3 will surely make a huge impact as the gritty, action-packed series stages a come back after nearly 8 years of waiting. From what little we have seen of the game so far, we have witnessed a New York police officer who has aged 12 years over what he used to be and seem to have shaved his head- well; we can’t say if he considers it a lucky charm. Yet, what we can say about this game is that it is expected to hit the next generation consoles as well as the PC platform in the 3rd quarter of 2011, so watch out.
4. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
Former Uncharted titles found their way with perfect visuals and dialogue scheme as well as a fine and fluid gameplay. Uncharted 3 returns with a Drake fighting for his fortune once more following his last expedition in search of Marco Polo’s treasure. The third installment is to said to be a desert-themed concept which might well include enhanced backward climbing and automatic ammunition pick up as well as improved enemy AI. If you think this is not enough, you will be glad to know that multiplayer and co-op features have been greatly enhanced which will assure a technically flawless release by Naughty Dog developers.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is expected to hit the stores by November1, 2011.
5. Gears of War 3
As an upcoming third-person shooter, Gears of War 3 will mark another fulfilling comeback in Fall 2011. Developed by Epic Games, Gears of War series has been one that players have continually fancied and delivered a satisfying experience. The third installment is said to feature a wider variety of modern weaponry including double barrel shotguns and a Pendulum War Era Lancer with a normal bayonet attached to it. That’s not it, a heavy Digger Launcher and new incendiary grenades have also been added to the artillery. Moreover, a brand new mech suit armed with a machine gun and a rocket launcher will make your day. Plus, multiplayer is said to be a lot more polished and powered this time and the voice acting has also been improved to take Gears of War gaming to the next level. So then, Gears of War lovers, be ready to kick some butt.
6. Batman Arkham City
Similar to the last installment of Batman series, Batman Arkham City is set to release in the third quarter of year 2011. Expect improved game mechanics and all new in-game features for this upcoming title. A broadcast tracer and smoke bombs have already been announced as two new grand additions to the weapons list. Also, the developers have hinted towards some new improvements in the all-innovative Batman ‘Detective Mode’ now with an all new skeletons and clues on screen. Players will get a chance to gain access to criminal records and hunt down those who aim to take down Arkham City with their evil designs. An enhanced combat system will infuse more life into this edition of play and make the fighting experience as fun as the forensic puzzle quests. Having said that, expect the best in this exciting deal of combat and puzzle and prepare to take on some of the most dangerous badasses of Arkham City.
7. Dead Space 2
Dead Space 2 is sure to strike with an array of jump scares. The upcoming survival horror shooter is the sequel to Dead Space and is looking to come up to the hype it has built up. The role of Isaac Clarke in the first game was a pretty interesting one as he sliced through each one of the zombies through a stricken mining ship. Be ready to meet a bunch of more of these hostile and grotesque Necromorphs as Dead Space 2 appears into the scene. News is that the game will feature a 4 vs. 4 multiplayer mode where one team will be human whereas the other tries to hunt it down to minute pieces. Interesting eh?
Dead Space will make its mark on January 25, 2011. Do not miss it.
8. Street Fighter x Tekken
Well, who wouldn’t want a clash of the titans! A game featuring the street fighter family up against a force like Tekken-sounds like a terrific recipe of some beat em’ up action. Namco and Capcom have teamed up for a fight that millions and millions are going to enjoy. Pronounced as Street Fighter cross Tekken, the game still looks like a 2D played with 3d rendered character models that must interest quite a lot of audience. Projectile moves, like hadouken, have been imparted and characters are also said to have adopted tag team moves. Well, that is very much expected when two such world collide, isn’t it? Talking of playable characters, interestingly Pacman and Megaman made an appearance in the trailers, chasing each other, but this was only a representation of the partnership between Capcom and Namco. Han Habiki, Kazuya and Ryu have already been confirmed from the demo we witnessed. All in all, we are all set to witness a fighting game that will deliver the punch, hopefully.
Street Fighter x Tekken will be released on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 late in 2011.(release date has not been confirmed yet)
9. Hitman 5
Hitman 5 has been announced for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Another Hitman sequel was exactly what Hitman fans were looking for and it seems that developers IO Interactive were listening this time. Agent 47 returns for more adventure- this guy just never gets too old to kill. Interestingly, rumor regarding this 5th installment was already up after the release of Hitman: Blood Money that was released in year 2006. Setting its fans tongues wagging, Hitman 5 has started to build some hype already as the New Year draws nearer and nearer. We are sure that Agent 47 would have added a bit more of to his stealth and slithering skills. 4 years is quite a lot of time for such spiritual learning anyway. Those of you who have played the series would already know its value, but to those who haven’t, you just can not afford to miss such a game.
Hitman 5 is expected to be out in Christmas, 2011. Hold your horses till then.
10. Mass Effect 3
The upcoming title by Bioware is sure to attract a mammoth fan base. Mass Effect 2 had made an impact following its launch and developers did not waste any time to appreciate and planned another release. Cut scenes of the game show industrial devastation and lacerate soldiers hunkered in debris-littered buildings. Seemingly, Shepard is the man who is supposed to redeem the world with his aid or else the world is set to collapse all along. That is pretty much all that has been said of the game as yet. Developer has acknowledged a well designed and remarkably rendered game in development but only time will tell how things unfold and how well all this effort holds up.
Mass Effect is said to have been announced for holiday, 2011 and is set for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
