Best Movies That Took Place in One Room
Who could have imagined that some of the best Hollywood movies took place in one room? You heard that right, folks. There have been some top quality movies that took place in an enclosed space from start to finish. Let us present to you some of the best movies that took place in one room.
Rear Window (1954)
Arguably, this classic by Alfred Hitchcock captures a story in a neighborhood. However, the movie actually takes place in a single room. The story focuses the character of James Stewart who is a wheelchair-ridden photographer in the habit of spying on his neighbors from the window of his apartment. Watch how this helps him conclude that there is a murderer in their midst. Whether it is the acting or the script writing, this movie oozes class.
12 Angry Men (1957)
When we talk about the best movies that took place in one room, it would be unfair not to mention 12 Angry Men. Merely three minutes of the movie are shot outside whereas the remainder of the film takes place in a court room where 12 jurors must decide the fate of a child who murdered his own father. An excellent script, coupled with a great cast and meaningful dialogues makes this black-and-white movie one of the best in the business.
To be completely fair, Cube does not entirely take place in a room per se. Instead, it is a thriller set in a maze that comprises several cubes. Since each cube is eerily similar to each other, we could technically consider it the same room. This indie production by Vincenzo Natali revolves around seven strangers, each with a unique personality, who find themselves trapped in an endless maze with deadly traps.
The Man from Earth (2007)
This movie is set inside the living room of a professor who attempts to prove that man can survive for as many as 14,000 years. Guess what, Professor John Oldman is the man who never ages since he himself has been on Earth for the past 14,000 years. No wonder a farewell party meant for him turns into an interrogation once he reveals this mind-boggling fact to his colleagues. The twists and turns captured in a small living room will have you glued to the screen, and the ending will top it off nicely.
Speaking of movies shot in a limited space, Buried is one that surely deserves to be listed. It is not even shot in a room; it takes place in a wooden coffin from start to finish. More than just a movie, Buried is an experience that has viewers so indulged that they can feel the restlessness and tension build as they try to figure a way out of the claustrophobic space. Watch Ryan Reynolds deliver a stellar performance as an American truck driver who gets attacked in Iraq before he is buried alive. With merely such things as a pen, pencil, knife, flask, flashlight, diminishing lighter and a dying mobile phone at his disposal, he must figure a way out or be buried alive.
